Holy Sepulchre Church Ashington

We are a friendly welcoming church that seeks to grow in fellowship with each other and reach out in God's love to the people of Ashington.

Our beautiful church is open every day from 9:00am till 3:00pm and you are warmly invited to visit for prayer or a moment or two's quiet.

Our main service each week is our Parish Eucharist at 10:00am every Sunday. You will find our style traditional, our singing enthusiastic and our welcome second to none! Please join us and share our vision that God in Christ is known, loved and proclaimed in the whole of our lives.

Gift Day- 13th December 2020

Dear members and supporters of Holy Sepulchre Church, Ashington

Like most organisations, 2020 has been a difficult year for our church. In March, COVID restrictions saw the Church of England advise all church buildings to close completely, and now our services resume again after a second lockdown period. A reduced capacity and restricted worship sees us far away from the usual vibrant, busy, day-to-day nature of our normal annual church activities.

Since March 2020, we've gone from an average of 4 Christenings per month, to none. An average of 5 weddings over the summer to none and to just 20 funerals for the year. We've had no concerts, no bi-annual fairs, no coffee mornings. We've also gone without plate donations for a significant amount of time while the church was closed. Sadly, all of this has added up to a significant loss of funds and we estimate a shortfall of approximately £10,000!

To go a little way towards redressing our financial imbalance we are holding a GIFT DAY on the 13th December 2020 running from 10.00am until 4.00pm. On this day, we are asking our congregation and supporters to consider the donations that they may have given to the church throughout the year, and to pledge a donation in their stead. Your gift will form an invaluable contribution towards our running costs and the short fall we face in our parish share contribution and we prayerfully and humbly ask you to consider supporting us as best you can.

How to donate
1. Along with this letter comes a small yellow gift envelope. We invite you to place your gift whether cash or cheque into the envelope and offer this to us at Holy Sepulchre on our Gift Day. If you are a tax payer and would be willing to add Gift Aid to your donation, please fill in your details on the front of the yellow envelope. Gift Aid enables us to claim back the tax you have paid on your donation, so gives us an additional 25% at no extra cost to you. If you are not a tax payer or would not like to add Gift Aid to your donation, please leave the form blank.
If you are unable to come along to church on the 13th December, but would like to offer a donation, please feel free to call at the Vicarage at any time over the following two weeks. We would be grateful if your donation could be with us by Christmas at the latest.

2.	Giving online- You can donate via 'Give a Little', which you'll find on our Facebook page and our A Church Near You page. Simply follow the link to the Give a Little site, and follow the instructions to donate. This method again includes the ability to add Gift Aid to your donation but as said in number 1 above there is no obligation to include this.

We hope you will support us as we seek to help fund the mission and ministry of our Church, and we thank you not only in advance of your generous gift but also for all your support during this difficult year.

With love and blessings, for and on behalf of Holy Sepulchre PCC,

Fr Chris (Priest in Charge)
Frances Routledge and Dianne Thompson (Church Wardens)
